Spend a day exploring emerald rice fields and lush back waterways of the Mekong Delta. Leave the city behind and journey to the Embark on a cruise through the many tributaries of the Mekong, walk along the famous “Monkey Bridges” that link the villages together and wander amongst vibrant tropical fruit gardens, local families, and experience the Mekong delta specialties in the local restaurants
Depart from your hotel around 8am. Leave the bustling city for an approximate two-hour drive to Ben Tre, a Province in Mekong Delta. Upon arrival at the pier, embark on the local motor boat which converted from the rice barge, overlooking floating houses where fishes are farmed beneath the house (viewing from the motorboat). On the way, stop to visit a home factory where bricks are made in the traditional method , continue cruise to a coconut processing workshop. Here, your guide will show discusses how this important fruit is treated by separating oil, flesh and husk – then used to make coconut oil, matting and delicious coconut candy. Back onboard to a sampan rowing via the winding creeks for a nice journey through the riverside village. Disembark and take a short walk to a local family where you can watch the traditional mat-weaving process first-hand. From here, experience the local transport called a xe loi (tuk tuk-style motor cart or by horse ride) and ride through the verdant rice fields and tropical fruit garden. Stop at a local pagoda to listen to your guide about the role of traditional communal temples in Vietnamese villager’s life.
Then, get onboard the Sampan, enjoy the rowing cruise through the small canal under the shadows of water-coconut palms along the banks. Relax in this peaceful scenery. Back to Ben tre for a delicious lunch then drive back to your hotel in Saigon. End the tour.
