Your first stop on the southern Vietnam tour is Sa Dec, at the northern reaches of the delta. Visit the Tu Ton gardens which is filled with exotic fruits and leafy foliage native to the Delta and Kien An Cung Pagoda before having lunch in the former house of Huynh Thuy Le who is the main character in Marguerite Dura’s novel. Continue to Chau Doc where a sunset journey up Sam Mountain provides sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.
Awake in the morning for a walk through Chau Doc’s riverside market. Vendors from around the region gather daily to sell fresh produce, local delicacies and handmade goods. Then, a boat journey takes you through the delta’s Chau Giang district, home to the Cham minority people. Discover hidden temples and mosques, visit weaving villages and travel past floating houses- a true taste of Delta life!
A short drive takes you past pastoral scenery to the bamboo basket-making hamlet of Long Thanh and on to Can Tho. Spend a night at a hotel along the Hau River, one of the many branches of the Mekong Delta, and enjoy the quiet evening atmosphere.
No southern Vietnam tour would be complete without a visit to the floating market and by staying in Can Tho, you will be one of the first to arrive at the Cai Rang floating market. Drift among the boats as vendors and buyers negotiate for purchases of fruits and other goods, a typical Delta scene unlike anything else in the region. Continue on your discovery of the region with a tour of the cottage industries to see the locals making items such as coconut candies and rice paper.
Cap off your Mekong Delta tour with a delicious lunch on an island in the middle of the waterways before returning by road to Ho Chi Minh City. In the morning, depart from Ho Chi Minh city and take a 8-hour drive to Chau Doc the province bordered Cambodia. En route. stop in Sa Dec Flower Village located near the Tien River has been well known as the land of thousands of varieties of exotic flowers and strange plants.One of the most typical features of Sa Dec, which is different from other flower growing villages, is that Sa Dec villagers grow flowers all year round on shelves. Visit a local bonsai garden then visit a must see of town , Huynh Thuy Le 's house. This site is immortalized by the frech writer Marguerite Duras who spent 04 years here from 1928 – 1932. Her novel “The Lover” went on to win the 1984 Prix Goncourt prize for literature with the main character in the novel is the owner of this house, Mr Huynh Thuy Le. Have lunch in this historic house then continue to Chau Doc and transfer to hotel for check-in.
Late afternoon, visit Sam mountain, a famous pilgrimate site in all over the Mekong Delta. Step up to the peak of mountain to have the spectacular view from the top and you can look over Cambodia ( if weather permitted). Overnight in Chau Doc.
In the morning, visit a local market that looks over the river then take a boat trip to Chau Giang district to visit a tiny mosque of Cham Community. Here,You have opportunity to see local Cham people weaving with the traditional euqipments. Next, visit a Khmer Temple, and the floating house which well-known in over country for catfish farming.
Return to city to drive to Can Tho. Stop on the way to visit the bamboo basket-making hamlet of Long Thanh, arrive Cantho and transfer to hotel. Overnight in Can Tho.
This morning weakup early and depart to explore the the vibrant and colourful Cai Rang Floating Market which is fully exciting by 0600am. Get on a small motorized boat and cruise among hundreds of vessels gathering on the river.
You'll see the tall bamboo pole hung the fruits, vegetable uprights at front of each boat to tell people from far away what is on offer.
Have your camera to take the photographs of this maze of fully piled up boat with bananas, mango, pomelo . You can even find the Pho Noodle shop or Cafeteria on the boat where local people have their breakfast on the water surface. After floating market, it’s a 4-hour drive back to Ho Chi Minh City where you will arrive late afternoon.
