MAI CHAU VALLEY

Early start to leave bustling Ho Chi Minh for the 2 hour drive to Cai Be. The colorful floating market with local traditional wooden boats , vast emerald rice fields and lush back waterways are the things that make Cai Be such a desired destination. Arrive Cai Be, get on thelocal boats then cruise on the floating market , where you can witness the unique way of advertising : product for sale is hung on a bamboo pole upright at front of boats to attract clients and introduce about what is on offer. Sellers work on these boats everyday and some families have been living on the river from generation to generation.
After floating market visit, land to a cottage factory where ‘pop-rice’, rice paper and coconut candies are made.
Have lunch with local specialities then return to your boat to cruise to Vinh Long . En route, enjoy the beautiful scenery o the waterways. On arrival, transfer to your vehicle to go to Vung Liem. From here, experience the local ferry to Long Island where you will check-in a home stay. Long Island is well-known for its sedge fields and fruit gardens and in your homestay, a unique one on this island, you will be treated as a member of the family. Have fun in cooking " Banh Xeo " - a type of pancake and a speciality of the Mekong Delta. Have dinner with the host family then learn more on their lifestyle and history of this island. Overnight at home stay.

wake you up. Have breakfast with family then it's your option to explore the island by bicycle or on foot through the village to sedge fields and see local people cutting this grass and weaving it to make the traditional mats.
Visit the tom of Thoai Ngoc Hau where local people worship him as the founders of the area. Back to your homestay for lunch then taking the ferry back to Vung Liem to visit a Khmer pagoda dating back to 1377. Continue to Vinh Long city. En-route , visit the Sadec flowers planting village, this is an excellent place to take photographs of the huge array of colourful flowers, specially, the flowers planted on the watersurface. Return to Ho Chi Minh City and arrive your hotel in the city in late afternoon.
