A tour of Vietnam that explores a lesser visited region of the Mekong Delta. Visit the river port town of Sa Dec, an area also famed for being the subject of the novel 'The Lover', written by French author Marguerite Duras. Enjoy a traditional lunch in the home of Huynh Thuy Le, the novels main protagonist. Guests also visit and walk around the Kien An Cung Pagoda before boarding the boat for the cruise to Cai Be. En-route the boat will stop for guests to see a local flower garden and the floating houses that enable families to live over the water.
Your tour of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam continues by crossing the Co Chien River at one of its branches with the Mekong and heading toward An Binh - Binh Hoa Phuc Islands, before reaching its final destination, Cai Be. Spend a relaxing and revitalizing night in the Mekong Lodge before waking early in the morning for a sunrise boat trip to Cai Be floating market.
Guests then leave the boat and jump onto bikes to venture into an area untouched by tourism. Enjoy a leisurely 7km bike ride along tree lined back roads to a family run orchard where a number of exotic fruits are grown. Continue to a stunning and ancient house that exhibits an architectural blend of Vietnamese and European styles. You then spend the afternoon sampling a range of Mekong Delta cuisine that is exclusive to the region, returning to Saigon in the late afternoon.
Breakfast at your hotel then start to Sadec town in Mekong delta which take you a 3.5 hour of drive.
For over 100 years, Sa Dec Flower Village located near the Tien River has been well known as the land of thousands of varieties of exotic flowers and strange plants.One of the most typical features of Sa Dec, which is different from other flower growing villages, is that Sa Dec villagers grow flowers all year round on shelves. Upon arrive in Sadec, visit the bonsai and flower garden , then visit a must see of town , Huynh Thuy Le 's house. This site is immortalized by the frech writer Marguerite Duras who spent 04 years here from 1928 – 1932. Her novel “The Lover” went on to win the 1984 Prix Goncourt prize for literature with the main character in the novel is the owner of this house, Mr Huynh Thuy Le. Have lunch the get on boat for sruising to Cai Be. Enjoy the scenic journey and en route visit a floating house where local people raise the catfish in the submerged cages , and stop at a traditional mat making workshop where river grasses are woven by hand. Arrive in Vinh Long, visit a traditional brick factory where bricks made by hand. Continue to cruise crossing Co Chien river to An Binh, Binh Hoa Phuc Island, finally, turn to Dong Phu canal to finish your sightseeing in Cai Be. Wake up early this morning to enjoy the sunrise on the riverand explore the colorful floating market of Cai Be. You wil see a maze of hundred wooden boats weave in and out,pile up with fruits, vegetable . In front of each boat, a tall bammboo pole hung on their samples on offer to introduce to their client what is on offer from the far away. You will see the boats with families who live on the water surface from generation to generation.
Continue cruising to an unvisited area of Mekong delta. Here , cycling along umbraged roads over small canals, through the fruits gardens and the quiet villages. It is your option to experience the local rickshaw ifyou don't want to cycle. On the way, stop at a traditional turmeric spring roll paper making house. Have some tea here and learn how the rice paper made then visit a family run orchard of many different kind of fruits are grown , and have a talk with the owner, a former war veteran, he may tell you some stories from his life as well as taking you into his garden to sample some fresh tropical fruits.
Continue cycling to a 100-year old colonial house to have Vietnamese lunch served with the Mekong Delta's Specialities. After lunch ,say goodbye to the host family then drive back to Ho Chi Minh city.
