Experience a traditional Cambodian town with an excursion to Takeo. Start with a visit to Phnom Chisor, a 10th century temple with beautiful views before continuing to Takeo. Explore the unique markets and visit traditional houses, as well as interacting with the friendly locals. Enjoy a boat trip along a small river, observe the local life, and visit ancient temples before returning to the capital.
Depart from Phnom Penh to Phnom Chisor Mountain. Climb the 100-meter hill to enjoy the spectacular view of the surrounding plains and a visit to the 11th century Brahman temple. Visit a silk weaving village before proceeding to Takeo.
Take a boat from Takeo to Phnom Da. Visit Phnom Da temple, a pre-Angkorian laterite tower (6th century) and Asram Maharosei (6th century), an Indian-style sandstone temple constructed in a style unlike any other temple in Cambodia.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at the site.
Return to Takeo by boat and drive back to Phnom Penh. En route, visit the Prasat Neang Khmao, the temple of the Black Virgin (10th century). Stop at Tonle Bati and visit Ta Prohm temple (12-13th century) and Yeay Peau temple (12th century). Return to Phnom Penh. If time permits, visit the Russian Market (Psah Tuol Thom Pong), a lively outdoor market where you will find antiquities, silver and gold jewelry, gems, silk, kramas, stone and wood carvings, as well as T-Shirts, CDs and other souvenirs.
